The Program of Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO)

Healthy Smiles Ontario, which is also known as HSO, denotes a free program devoted to children and youth who are at the age of 17 and under who are experiencing financial hardships. It includes regular checkups, treatment of urgent dental issues, and preventive care. If your children qualify, then they will receive regular dental health services from dental health professionals or dental provider.

Children and you who are at the age of 17 and under may qualify if the following conditions are met.

  • They are the residents of Ontario

  • They hold the membership of a household which meets the programs income eligibility conditions

What Dental Health Service is Covered?

  • Regular visits to a licensed dental health service provider, such as dental hygienists or dentist

  • Dental health services which include cleanings, check-ups, fillings, scaling, x-rays

  • Urgent or even emergency dental health issues

If you have family dentist, you can easily call their office in order to find out if they take part in Healthy Smiles Ontario. Public Health Preventive Dental Clinics are all there to help keep your children’s teeth and gums healthy. We can provide various dental health services, which involve teeth cleaning, applying fluoride, coating teeth with sealants, showing your children how to brush their teeth, telling you about foods which are healthy for your children’s teeth. Your children can use the Preventive Dental Clinic if he or she is at the age of17 or under, you do not have dental coverage and cannot afford dental health service.
